The Northwest Passage Script 3

So, in the tradition of posting things hot off the press/my brain, here's my new scene for C.W. Many thanks and 'look over here for my inspiration' to moveablehistory/twasadark cause the Bering Striat still messes with my mind and I never would have learned The Northwest Passage if it weren't for that podfic, and now I've had it stuck in my head on and off a few weeks and memorized it out of rise up singing. Probably didn't help I had 3 different versions of it on a repeat cycle while I wrote this. All my own characters/locale but the day-after-tomorrow type situation is entirely unoriginal. Anyone have comments about the radio-voice so it doesn't feel like I'm palgerizing (not the same words but how do you say the same basic concpet without it being exactly the same...maybe I should just make a works cited list). As always I'd love feedback.

Here's my dialogue scene. Due next week but I'm on top of the ball for once. And yes SPN is a heavy influence here, Dust in the Wind as well (in an abstract sense). The Traveler was originally more like someone else's character, but since I changed names, and couldn't remember more than that she dragged an RV with her, I filled in the rest so I'm guessing she's unrecognizeable. Any and all feedback is appreciated.

So I'm off on the snowshoeing trip today. Keep feeling I'm forgetting something, but it'll all work out I'm sure. In the mean time, here's my monologue piece for your enjoyment, and posterity. See ya'll later.

Right, so the baby SPN fic inspired by finding a context for that dang annoying sentence that may not even be what I thought it was in the skinwalker/shapeshifter/whatever-it-was ep (the one that starts with the Godadavida [Godiva?] song).

Title: The Talk
Rating: PG (ish)
Author: Me
Characters: wee/teen!winchesters
Summary: Sammy finds magazines under Dean's bed. John has a talk with Dean about them.

And the cleaned up version for my Creative Writing class
Which is basically the same only the Impala is now a Pontiac Boneville (clunky big classic family car (with enough trunk space for a body), only not quite as scary and awesome, but still pretty darn cool). And I fussed with details (guns, moving around etc.)

Two SV kid fics and one SPN fic later and I still have a cold. I'll be scrubbing the guns and demon talk out of the SPN one and sending it off the the Creative Writing workshop since the other two are too short. What's with that? Actually one of the SV wound up completely unrelated since I screwed cannon and wrote it OOC. Which basically means it's a completely original fic. *sigh* Actually kudos to myself for that since then I really could turn it in, if it were a bit longer.

Summary: Chloe's mother leaves. I don't remember the specifics of this so I took some liberties. What mental illness did she have anyways, I can't remember.

SPN to come once I've edited it and have both versions (I'm still super shakey on charactarization so don't expect anything great. I love wee!winchesters though. ^^)

This is what happens when you stick me in Clark Kent’s head around midnight. I wasn’t really counting on snow but this story bit me and I figured I might be able to use it for my POV piece for creative writing. Um obviously not as it’s so Clexy/SV centric. I couldn’t scrub off the serial number without loosing the entire story. Oh well. I’ll just write another. This is written second person, Clark’s POV, and as a stream of consciousness story. It probably needs more beta then I’m willing to edit at the moment so suffer with me, or point out flaws. It’s a little less ramble-y than it was when I wrote it last night, but it’s still a bit longwinded. Of course as my interpretation of someone’s thought process…well I hope it’s enjoyable.

Title: Falcons
Author: Rhea314
Rating: PG-13 for very sanitized sexual references (because it’d kill me to actually talk about porn)
Summary: Clark thinks about being an alien and alien sexuality. Rather CLexy and all my random thoughts on possibilities for alien difference. And I know positively nothing about falcons, other than that they mate for life (some of them). I know way more about orcas, but the metaphor wasn’t right.

Whenever I read something it seeps into my writing. Sometimes it's obvious, at least it really used to be. When I was small I was the queen of plagerizing. Give me a book and I could rewrite it back to you with near semblence of form and style, character types and content. I hope over the years I've gotten better, less recognizible in my parroting abilities. We're reading The Bird Artist in school, and I think 'Wool Gathering' bears it some resemblence in vague style. Now on my own time I'm reading Hood, which is wonderful, and so I feel the urge to write about funerals. And of course hamsters which I'm borrowing from Ion Arc by SunHawk, only the funny thing about that is that's more one step rememoved because I do have hamster injokes and a small collection (admittedly no coffe-cups...yet). So that's the inspiration here.

Sadly I don't think I can submit this piece for Creative Writing because the dialogue is only one way, to a cat and so it's not really dialogue. *sigh*

So our internet has been doing the 'I'm a dead thing' impersonation much to my annoyance because I couldn't finish my media paper when I didn't have the urls for citation. Maybe that'll all happen tuesday.

I did have time, in absence of the net (and yes I spent almost all of today reading fic on my computer...) to write a bit myself. So here's to having a dialouge assignment and winding up with really random Smallville fics that are only 1/3rd based in series 1/3rd in my head and that last bit from who knows where but I'm not really sticking in character. Still I can amuse myself so if you enjoy being amused...have at.

Title: God and other stories
Author: Rhea314
Rating: pg
Summary: Lex finds out...and theological discussions result. Not really in character as I doubt the Luthor family is/was religious...or at least not like this. Still I can see Lionel as a telelvangelist, he does the wild gesticulations with his arms right, at least in my mind...and the Jesus hair. Right.

God and other stories )

Title: dialogue drabbles
Author: Rhea314
rating: g
Summary: our assignment for in-class writing was to write a conversation in which not everything is being stated. These two are small conversations that popped into my head, they're a little vague, but I assumed that into the assignment, and they're only marginally connected, one possibly following the other. Martha and Clark talk, and then Clark and Lex talk. spoilers for absolutely nothing.

Creative Writing: Wool Gathering

Our assignement was to write 3-4 pages including some dialogue. I hope 4.5 pages cuts it because I don't want to edit. I'll probably cull half a paragraph and tighten up the language over the weekend I suppose. Maybe I'll just turn it in as is though. Admittedly this story owes a lot to my obsession it was spawned by the fact that I couldn't remember the entire quote that goes with "cry ____...and release the dogs of war" so I was restructuring to see if I could figure it out. But if this were fic it would be OCC and the characters would look different and are in different places, so then is it still fanfic? I'm presuming not, since if you didn't know the connenction it reads like normal. I just see it cause I know the original template. If you can guess where it's from by the text tell me and I'll go in with an ice pick and give it a make over since I do need a piece that'll stand in class.

Creative Writing: Phosphorescence

So creative writing, apparently it was 2 pages doublespaced. Hell. Well here's the revised revision. I'm really cutting it down you see. I also went back and altered the originals because the tabs didn't transfer over to lj and so it was just one massive scary text block. Now you can go read the two originals the way the were intended, with line breaks. ^^ and all feedback is, of course, appreciated.

Phosphorescence (revised) )

Creative Writing time. Our assigment for this fiction quint was to write a person in a place with description. Easy enough, sadly it had to be two pages or less. And I go careening off towards three to four, so I had to cut a lot of description, and a character and stuff. So there's a school version and a non-school version. I'm not sure which I like better. They both could use some tightening and I'm still fighting over some word-choice elements. How much to I actually want to throw out into the arena, no? Well, I figure safe is the way to go so I'm cutting anything minorly suggestive (not that I could write anything close to an accurate romance with no experience anyhow). Opinions always appreciated, and it'd be nice to hear what parts I should keep, combine from the two, or discard.

Merry Christmas: Smallville Fanfic

In my free time I've actually gotten around to stabing at the few ideas I've had stuck in my head. This is my first attempt at anything in the SV universe and therefore may not have a full grasp of character yet, which is why if anyone wants to give me a pointer, or any sort of reaction, that'd be great.

Title: She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy
Author: Rhea
Rating: G (PG?)
Summary: Not a song-fic, but song inspired. A look at Martha and Jonathan's relationship over the years and the importance of tractors.
disclaimer: none of these characters are mine.
she thinks my tractor's sexy )

Title: Secret Garden
Author: Rhea
Rating: PG-12
Summary: I wanted to do a Secret Garden remake Smallville style, there's the house/manor on the hill, and a dead mother named Lilly (Lillian) there already, I wanted to have it more within the framework of the musical than the book (which I've sadly never read) or the movie which I don't remember. It sort of spun out from there. I always did think Archibald was the bad guy...This could be a WIP, but since I tied it up well enough for my own piece of mind I doubt it, unless as readers it doesn't sound like it ends. I think it's a fine conclusion but that's my mind. Minorly Clex-y
The Secret Garden )

Title: Luthor's Will
Author: Rhea
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Clark finds a large amount of money suddenly appears in his account and decides to investigate.
I tried to write this one more in keeping with the Superman novels, they have a very clear tone, I think I got it towards the beginning, and then lost it, it's a little too fluffy I feel, but good enough for a fist try. I hope you enjoy it.

I hate formula poetry, rhyme scheme, stanza length and what have you, sadly our most recent assignment was such. So I'm satisfied with this poem, but it's passable. The goal was for it to be a villenell, (for example "Do Not Go Gently Into that Good Night" is a classic of this form). Hope it's worth the time to read it. I'm not writing another one.

Getting things done makes me feel better. I did all my homework yesterday before getting on my computer (i.e. reading fic). And it was miserable weather, pouring cats and dogs as I went to the bank, library, post office, and QFC for bus tickets. Ha! I am productive even when streets are flooded.

And we started workshoping poems in Cr.Wr. yesterday, so I suddenly felt the need to rewrite a metaphor poem. Cricket was too short, and Blue to weird (?) so here's my new take. Guess on inspiration, and you're probably right, again.

Lab Rat )

Also, if anyones thought of writing a SV/Secret Garden crossover, they should. I was listening to the soundtrack for the musical (still as beautiful as it ever was) and was like, hey! 'house on a hill, small towns, gardening, secrets, screwed up parents and children, hm. (the mother's even named Lily and I can re-imagine Lionel as Archibald, that's not a bad name fit...)' of course it's a little bumpy detail wise but the general scheme of things fits well enough. Someone who has time on their hand should write it. ^^

As usual, here's the CW entry. If you have an opinion tell me, based on comments and my own druthers (however they fall) I'll decide what I turn in tomorrow.

So since it's due on monday and I have 15 minutes till class and I'll probably write more and Alice is out at coffee etc. (no one to read) I'm just going to randomly post this because really what more should I do but actual work that needs to be done. Four poems, all using the theme of Questions. The first is entirely of Quotes (but the 3 paragraphs which I wrote). The other 3 are my work. Comments are always lovely.

So here are my other Creative Writing pieces, the ones that aren't poetry. They're a little longer for that reason (it had to be at least 500 words, though the second of these is only 412) Enjoy and comments are lovely. If you have no interest in original work, just ignore it.

Prose to a nose (and highly influenced by an Awefully Big Adventure): )

Hope you liked them. Now I'm going to go sleep somewhere, and stop being bored. That's the thing about being sick, there's nothing to do really. *sigh*

So I'm sad to be missing Meeting and Megan today, but I am sick, and if I don't talk/do things today there is at least a chance I'll still have my voice tomorrow. I'm now singing down with the tenors (which is my cue to shut the hell up and drink lots of tea and vitamin C). Anyways, yesterday I mentioned creative writing and so on the off chance that it will make someone elses day if I post, or I'll be able to look back on my first CW projects with pride, I'll stick them up here. First shall be poetry then I'll do another post for the two prose peices. Feedbacks great, but since I'm a lurker myself I don't expect it, still it's always nice to hear.
